The state of eating food in excess of what the body needs to function effectively resulting in the accumulation of fat in the body is known as obesity. Obesity starts gradually during childhood when children eat a lot to keep up with their rapid growth and development. If their eating pattern are not controlled by adults, obesity may start to set in as over feeding tends to increase the number of fats cells during childhood. Some of the factors that may be responsible for obesity are : excess intake of food than what a person needs, endocrinal disorder, history of obesity in the family (genetic) inactivity or sedentary life, eating of much fatty foods e.g eating much of take - away foods, diseases etc. Communication Research Machine (1974) recorded that one can assess his fatness by pinching the back of upper arm lightly. Facts About Hypertension

There is no universally acceptable definition of hypertension, operationally any definition of hypertension must remain flexible as the blood pressure varies with age and sex in most communities and even in the same individual the diurnal range may be considerable. In most epidemiological studies an arbitrary cut -off point of 140/90mmHg has been used but a more acceptable definition is that one from World Health Organization which recognises 160/95 mmHg as the dividing line. It States as follows:  Hypertension in adults is arbitrary defined as a systolic pressure equal to or grater than 160 mmHg (21.3KPa) and or diastolic (fifth phase) equal to or greater than 99mmHg (12.7KPa). Diabetes Mellitus and Its Solution

Image
Diabetes is probably coined from a Greek word that means to pass through. It is associated with the passing from the kidney to the urine of sugar from the blood. It is a disorder of glucose metabolism in the body. Diabetes mellitus is also known as sugar diabetes and is caused by failure of pancreas to produce insulin for the body to be able to digest glucose. The glucose then appears in heavy concentration and spills over via the kidney into the urine. A person suffering from the diseases is said to be diabetic. Anderson, Morton and Green (1978) opined that diabetes should be visualised as a vascular as well as metabolic disorder with altered carbohydrate metabolism as the morbidity of diabetes is caused by its vascular complications. Karam (1985) believed that clinical diabetes mellitus connotes a syndrome with disorder metabolism and inappropriate hyperglycemia due to either absolute deficiency and or ineffective biologic effectiveness of insulin secretion. There are two major types

Cancer And Anti Cancer

Image
Cancer: In the opinion of Ensor, Means and Henkel (1985) the cells of the body are in continuous multiplication, growth and sustaining injury, raping themselves, doing their work and finally disintegrating. In cancer, the cells stop reproducing themselves in an orderly fashion leading to disorganization and proliferation of cells which is not stopped leads to the death of the patient. The cause of this abnormality is not conclusively ascertained but endocrine imbalance, enzymatic changes, chemical compounds, irritation, radiation and viruses may not be ruled out.  The widely proliferating cells usually come together in a mass known as neoplasm or tumor. These cells, divide long before they are mature and tend to die prematurely. Hoffman believed that a greater incidence of cancers of all types occurred simultaneously with the technological advancement of the human race. Oil pollution in sea foods, cigarette smoke, burning refuse, power plant emissions and motor exhaust fumes may induce
